

Of the 1523 people who tragically lost their lives that night, 549 came from Southampton.
2009 Events : 17th - 19th April 2009
Southampton commemorated the 96th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic with a series of events and services held across the city in April 2008.
Following on from last year's successful programme, the 2009 events will take place between the 17 - 19 April 2009 at various venues throughout Southampton.
It includes the successful elements of 2007 and 2008 combined with some new unique events that will attract world-wide interest.

The Southampton Tourist Information Centre (T.I.C.) will be open during the Titanic Commemorative weekend. It will offer information on the programme of events, advice on accommodation, and the opportunity to buy Titanic books and souvenirs.
