In September 1985 a joint American – French expedition discovered the wreck of the Titanic by using the video sled ARGO. During 1986 a three person submersible ALVIN and a remotely operated vehicle called JASON JUNIOR (J.J.) made further visits to the wreck.
It was from this time that submersibles and the Titanic became linked in the public’s mind.
